GUNS N' ROSES Bassist Issues Update On Auction For Sister-In-Law
July 15, 2007GUNS N' ROSES bassist Tommy Stinson recently coordinated an eBay auction of several autographed items from the band. The auction was set up to raise funds for the family of Stinson's sister-in-law, whose family were the victims of a horrific crime earlier this year. Stinson explained, "On February 3rd, 2007, my sister-in-law, Hilary Kruger, and her family were devastated in a horrible act of violence when a stranger broke into their home and murdered her husband, Tracy, and Alec, one of her two young sons. Hilary is still in critical condition as I write this. We are trying to raise money to get her and her son, Zak, back on their feet, as they have a long and very difficult road ahead of them."
Stinson has issued the following update regarding the auction: "I'd like to thank all the GN'R fans out there for making the eBay charity auction a huge success. The guitar and jerseys made over $13,000!!!!!! My family is forever grateful to you all for the love and support you have given. The money made from the auction will go a long way in helping Hilary and Zak put their lives back together."
The Krugers lived in the small town of Waseca, Minnesota. Police reportedly had a man in custody shortly after the murders, but there was no further info on whether he had been charged.
The Krugers' younger son, Zak, was staying at a friend's house on the night of the shootings.
The items up for auction included a Les Paul guitar used in concert by GN'R guitarist Robin Finck, three band hockey jerseys and two baseball jerseys. The items were signed by all the current members of GUNS N' ROSES.
A benefit concert featuring SOUL ASYLUM and GOLDEN SMOG was held in Waseca on June 9 to raise money for the surviving members of the family.
